Manaslu Trek or Manaslu Circuit Trekking itinerary depends upon the trekking route and places you want to go (would be different if Tsum valley is included). There are several itineraries for Manaslu Round trek and you can customize it as per your time and interest.

But in general, there is Manaslu Short Express Trekking as 10 days for lower Manaslu Trek and can be extended to 22-25 days with including Tsum Valley. There must be some days (2-3) for acclimatization and is possible for sightseeing or exploration of the sideways during the rest days.

Lower Manaslu Trek or Manaslu Short Express Trekking


Lower Manaslu trek is the short trek in the lower area of Ghorkha district and basically it is a homestay trek. You will be trekking to the Barpak, the epicenter of the April 25, 2015 Earthquake and 10 days walking plus jeep ride is the best itinerary.

Manaslu Trek - 14 Days


Manaslu Trek 14 days is a bus drive trek from Kathmandu to Soti Khola (starting point of Manaslu Trek), Tal to Besi Sahar and Besi Sahar to Kathmandu. The bus services is not available all the time in a year in this route so, you should contact the Manaslu Trekking agency before you are planning for a trek to Manaslu. During the monsoon time, there might be a regular bus in Tal to Besi Sahar route and is off-road.

Manaslu Trek 14 days will be suitable during the Autumn season from September to November but you need to book your package in advance so that your trekking company can arrange the trek. As Autumn is the peak season for Manaslu trekking.

Manaslu Circuit + Tsum Valley Trek - 22 Days


22 days Manaslu Tsum Valley trek itinerary is the best for experiencing the tibetan culture in Tsum Valley near Tibetan border. Tsum valley trek is the side trip from Manaslu which takes 1 week extra and needs a special permit along with ACAP, MCAP and manaslu restricted area permit. The permit cost for 7 days Tsum valley is USD35 and you need to contact local trekking company for issue of permit in advance.

Where is Mount Manaslu?

Mount Manaslu is the world's eighth highest mountain standing 8156 m high from sea level located in the north west of capital city Kathmandu, in Gorkha District. It is just 64 km far from another popular Mountain Mt. Annapurna. It is protected situated in the Manaslu Conservation Area which has been established for the protection and conservation of Mt. Manaslu. During the trekking to Manaslu, you will be circumambulating the Manaslu massif.

Do I need permits for Manaslu Trek?

Yes, you will need a permit for Manaslu Trek. Along with Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) Permit and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit, you will also need special Restricted Area Permit to do trekking in Manaslu. There must be at least two trekkers in a group with a guide for trekking to Manaslu.

How much does manaslu trek cost?

The price of manaslu trek is not uniformity, the cost may differ which company you choose. Expect approx $1500 for 20 days Kathmandu-Kathmandu trip including full board package.

No, you can't trek manaslu independently or alone, according to the rules by the government, you need to hire a government registered guide and minimum two persons (foreigner) is required.

How difficult is the Manaslu Trek?

The trekking trail is good for trekking even after the earthquake hit the area badly. During the monsoon season (from june to August), there will be risk of landslide but after the monsoon stops, the trekking trail will be fine for trekking.

What is the best trekking route?

The famous trekking, manaslu trek starts from Arughat Gorkha and gradually takes an altitude hiking up to the technically difficult pass, Larke La Pass. The trekking route follows to Tsum valley if you like wilderness and explore the remote culture of ethnic people at Tibetan border.

yes, you can trek with your kids if your kids can walk on their own through the mountain path. The problem can only cause if there will be the mountain sickness and tiredness. Crossing the larke la pass will be difficult for children.

Manaslu Trek Difficulty and Grade

Manaslu trek will be the best for those who love wilderness and want to explore the isolated mountain village. Tsum is the hidden valley populated by the ethnic people following tibetan culture and traditions.

For the manaslu circuit trek, you need to have habit of walking ups and downs and need high level of fitness. If you have interest on explore the mountains, culture, village and nature, you can trek Manaslu circuit. Manaslu trek is a wilderness trekking.

The most important thing is to make your mind prepared for hiking, the most of the route is through the mountain villages which can not be difficult. During the Autumn and Spring season, the route is good but during monsoon and winter season, there may be difficulty of landslides and snow fall

You will be walking 6 to 8 hours a day daily during the manaslu circuit trek and the Manslu Tsum valley trek itinerary is up to 25 days.
